Are you aware of the new directive, DVS (Direct Vision Standard) that TfL (Transport for London) enforces from 26th October 2020?
A safety permit will be required for all heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) over the gross weight of 12 tonnes to enter Greater London. This is part of the Mayor of London’s plan to eliminate deaths and serious injuries on London’s transport network by 2041.
In order to help safeguard all road users, especially vulnerable users that are not in a vehicle such as pedestrians and cyclists, the Direct Vision Standard will measure the drivers’ vision from an HGV cab through the windows.
All HGVs operating in Greater London will have to hold a safety permit (applying is free). If the vehicle meets the DVS minimum star (0 to 5) rating of 1 or above the permit will be granted. Any HGV without a permit may face a charge of £550 (reduced to £275 if paid within 14 days).
The technology that 6ST has will enable you to gain your DVS permit without paying a fortune.
The 6ST visual Direct Vision aids the driver by having additional cameras (2, 4 or 5) around the cab and trailer connected to a monitor in-cab. In additionally this system records all that the cameras see.
